Fr. Frantiszek Budrys

о. Франтишек Будрис

Frantiszek Ignatievich Budrys was born on the 14th of October 1882. He completed the Seminary in St. Petersburg and in 1907 he was ordained a priest. After 1907 he was rector of the church and teacher of religion in Tomsk. After 1924, he became administrator of the parish in Tobolsk and chaplain in Tiumen. At the same time he served parishes in Perm and in Ekaterinburg. Afterward until 1937 he served parishes in Perm, Kazan, Ufa, and Vyatka. He was arrested in 1937 in Ufa, together with the members of the parish council, on a false charge. He was condemned to death and shot in the Ufa jail.

In the parishes of Siberia and Ufa the memory about him as about zealous pastor is kept. Some articles were recently published concerning his work and martyrdom.
