News from the Catholic Newmartyrs of Russia Program
(June 16th, 2002)
As we informed you previously, the site of the Catholic Newmartyrs of Russia Program, approved in January of 2002 by the Bishops Conference of Russia, is found on the Internet at: (http://www.catholicmartyrs.ru)
We are glad to inform you that short versions of the site were published in several national languages - that is in German, Italian and Polish in addition to Russian and English versions, published previously. Newly published versions include shortened information about the Program and biographies of the candidates, proposed for beatification along with their photos, where available. The Russian version remains the most comprehensive one; English is a little bit shorter. We are still seeking translator-volunteers for French, Spanish and any other versions - and for the translation of additional materials for already published versions.
Some of the articles about the candidate were sent to us by their authors. Usually we place them at our site in one language only, the language in which they were written. But we encourage volunteers to prepare translations of them into other national languages.
In addition, attention was paid to the Program work by some Religious Congregations, especially by Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary (MIC). Three Marian Candidates would be soon included in the list of candidates - Fr. Fabian Abrantowicz MIC, Fr. Andjey Cikoto MIC and Fr. Janis Mendriks MIC. General Superior of Marian Fathers wrote a letter to Metropolitan Kondrusiewicz, who is a head of the Bishops Conference of Russia, expressing readiness to collaborate with the Program and appreciating its work. The interest was also paid to the Program by the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallotines).
